OUT HERE, a documentary short film directed by Madpix Films co-founder Lisa Klein, made its debut to a full house at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival on February 15, 2025. The film was produced by Leslie Silver, Ph.D., with Doug Blush as co-producer.
OUT HERE chronicles the poignant quest of a Sacramento social worker on the front lines of the homelessness crisis who attempts to help unhoused individuals through empathy and interpersonal connection. It evolved from the production of the full-length documentary, NO HOME HERE, which provides perspective on homelessness while following a diverse set of impacted characters. While working toward funding the more ambitious project, our team consolidated resources and highlighted the social worker’s journey via this shorter production.
The OUT HERE team is committed to developing films that portray homelessness honestly. We hope that after watching the film viewers will be armed with a deeper understanding of the problem, as well as the challenges that go with trying to solve homelessness. Above all, we hope OUT HERE will serve as a critical call to action to advance the conversation around this complex problem.
